IN MEMORIAM: Magdelaine Salvage Anthony

Magdelaine Salvage Anthony died on June 9th at the age of 96 at her home in Glen Head, NY. She spent many happy summers on Fishers Island as a young girl and later with her husband, Reed Anthony, and their children. Mag was the daughter of Sir Samuel A. Salvage & Lady Katharine Richmond Salvage. Along with her parents, Mag and her two older sisters, Katharine S. Polk Wilmerding and Margaret S. Taliaferro, lived at The Point (now the Macleods’ home).

Mrs. Anthony is survived by her five children: Silas, Jr. (Anne) of New York City, Mag Smith of Dataw Island, SC, , Bryan (Marilyn) of Sea Cliff, NY, Bob (Ann) of Millbrook, NY and Fishers Island, and Kitty Palmer of Guilford, CT. In addition, she leaves 10 grandchildren (including Arthur, Mimi, and Sarah Anthony), and six great grandchildren. She also is sur-vived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Samuel S. Polk.
