IN MEMORIAM: Christena Doyen

Christena Doyen

Our Loving Mother, Christena Doyen of Fishers Island, NY passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2008.

She was born in Port Hood, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada on March 3, 1932, and was one of 16 children who were born to John and Catherine MacDonald. Her dear husband of 50 years, Francis Doyen, died last year surrounded by the love of his life and their children.

Christena was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church and of the Fishers Island Altar and Rosary Society for many years. She was also a dedicated volunteer at the Hit or Miss Rummage Sale. Christena was a very resourceful lady who loved cooking, baking and family meals and most importantly, she was a Mom to all who knew her. Her four children, Josephine Taylor of Drums, PA, Marie Lester of Old Saybrook, CT, Daniel Doyen and Thomas Doyen and one grandson, Dylan Doyen, all of Fishers Island New York, survive her.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at our Lady of Grace Church on Fishers Island at 12:30. The Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home of New London is assisting the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her memory to either Our Lady of Grace Church or to the Fisher Island Fire Department Seastretcher Fund.
