Raffle To Benefit “The Barrie Fiske IHP Scholarship Award”

Barrie Fiske, along with her husband Russell Planitzer, was a long-time summer resident and homeowner on our Island. Barrie passed away June 29, 2019, from complications due to Cystic Fibrosis, a hereditary lung disease diagnosed when she was an infant. She fought a valiant battle for 57 years.

She served on the board of the Island Health Project for 13 years and 15 years on the board of Tobacco Free Kids, the largest global anti-tobacco lobbying organization. Health was amongst her many interests.

During her walks on the Fishers Island beaches, with her beloved dog Otto, Barrie started collecting sea glass and became an avid collector. One summer she took 2 similarly shaped, almost matching pieces and had a beautiful pair of earrings made by jeweler Lisa Hall. Before she passed away she gave them to IHP President Susie Parsons to raffle off to raise money for the IHP.

The IHP is honoring Barrie’s hard work, on our behalf, with a scholarship for a Fishers Island resident and senior student at the Fishers Island School, to help with their first year at college. This scholarship will commence with graduation in 2020.

IHP is selling raffle tickets to win these beautiful earrings. Please help support the new scholarship. IHP’s goal is to raise $25,000 to fund a yearly $1,000 scholarship award.

The pierced earrings measure about 3/4” wide by 1” high.
Pictured above, they are lying horizontally.
Tickets are $500.00 apiece, 50 will be sold
The drawing will be at the HOG Tournament on Sunday, September 1, 2019
You need not be present to win.

Please send a check made out to Island Health Project (fully tax-deductible) c/o Susie Parsons, P.O. Box 667, Fishers Island, NY 06390 AND please include your email and cell phone number.
