Pop Art Experience
Artist and Author Michael Albert brings his “Modern Pop Art Experience” to Fishers Island!
This July, Michael Albert, the American Pop Artist and Author known for making collages out of cereal boxes and other printed cardboard brand packages, will be bringing his “Modern Pop Art Experience”, a traveling Hands-On Cereal Box Collage workshop to Eastern Long Island for special art making sessions and learning experiences for kids and families.
Albert is especially excited to bring his famous Cereal Box Collage workshop to Fishers Island! This will be his first visit to Fishers Island and he looks forward to a special, unique Art-making Experience at the Community Center.
Albert’s 2018 Summer Modern Pop Art Tour will take place at over 75 venues (mostly libraries and museums) in 10 states! Participants will have the opportunity of meeting the artist, hearing short talk where he will introduce himself to the group and show examples of his creations and then, he will lead an art making workshop using the same materials he uses to create his serious masterpieces. All participants will receive a free gift from the artist: they will have the choice of one of 15 of his limited edition posters to take with them as a special memento which he will gladly sign for them at the end of the session.
Mr. Albert, a native of Nassau County, Long Island, himself, grew up in Woodmere and attended Lawrence High School. He has been making art since his college days at NYU where he studied business. He began his artistic pursuits drawing and doodling and eventually began making collages out of extra materials he had at home at at his office. One day after a few years of collaging old photographs, stickers and junk mail, he decided to use a cereal box in his art & created his first ‘Cerealism’ collage out of a Frosted Flakes box. This was 22 years ago and it marked the beginning of a new phase of his work which he has continued to develop and from which the Hands-On Collage Workshop he is bringing to the library was born.
Over the past decade he brought this program to over 1,000 schools, libraries, museums & other art festivals & venues all over the USA & in Europe! Today Albert lives in White Plains, NY with his wife Erynn and they have 4 children.

Mr. Albert will run two sessions of open collage workshops with kids and adults where all will have the chance to create their own collage. He will also include a short presentation about his Modern Pop Art and be available for Q&A. He will use his book, “An Artist’s America” and posters to illustrate his talk.
