IN MEMORIAM: Laura Mannetti

Laura Mannetti, beloved wife, mother, daughter and sister, passed away on July 4, 2011, after an 8-year battle with cancer. She touched many lives along her journey here and was an inspiration to her family and many friends.

Laura was born in New York on May 29, 1961. She received her B.S. in Nursing from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY. She lived and worked in New York City as a pediatric nurse at the Mt. Sinai Hospital and later moved to private practice. Laura and Jim married in 1987. In 1997, they relocated to Houston and raised their family. Laura loved to travel and every summer the family returned to New York and summered on Fishers Island.

Until her untimely death, Laura dedicated herself to her family with endless love and devotion. Laura will be remembered by family and friends as a kind, compassionate, generous, loving woman with the biggest smile. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. We will all cherish her memory.

Laura is survived by her husband, Jim; her children: Sam (17), Joseph (14), Max (11), and Amelia (8); her mother, Grace Tesoriero; her sisters: Janet and Heather; her brother, Frank; numerous nieces and nephews; and great friends.

The family would like to express their thanks to the very special nurses at Houston Hospice, where Laura spent her final days. Their compassion, kindness and support were unending.

Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Laura from five o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 7th of July, in the Grand Foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

A Memorial Mass is to be offered at two o’clock in the after-noon on Friday, the 8th of July, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, where the Rev. Msgr. Frank H. Rossi, Pastor, is to serve as celebrant.
