Make a difference in the lives of children in need in the Dominican Republic

Note from Fishers Island School:

We can collectively make a difference in the lives of children in need in the Dominican Republic. Gabe Sparen’s (gr. 8) mom, Sarah Sparen, volunteers at a medical clinic that serves children of all ages. During her service there she has witnessed the clinic’s significant needs for important basic supplies. She is requesting that we provide much-needed support by donating the following supplies: Children’s Tylenol (liquid and chewables), Ibuprofen (adult), anti-fungal crimes (athlete’s foot), anti-microbial crime (neosporin), antacids (Tums), anti-diarrheal (Pepto), and children’s chewable vitamins.

In addition to the identified medical supplies, Sarah is hoping to bring any SUMMER clothing donations for newborns through high school.

As Sarah will personally bring our donations during her trip this month, we can be assured they will serve children most in need, many of whom reside in an orphanage. Please send all donations to the FIS office. OTC medication donations from students in grades 1-4 must be brought to school by PARENTS.  Ms. Sparen’s will be meeting with our students sometime in February (Viking Voyage) to share her work in the Dominican Republic and how our school’s donations assisted her young patients.

Please send donations to FIS by Monday, January 12th.  Questions can be emailed directly to Sarah at
