Fishers Island School: Superintendent/Principal
Member: Island Community Board, FI School Representative
Member: Fishers Island Library Board
Member: Fishers Island Yacht Club and Fishers Island Conservancy
When did you first arrive on Island/how did you get here?
I was completing my 8th year as Superintendent of the Colchester Public School District. Although I enjoyed the challenge of leading a 3,500 student school system, my office was in the town hall and my position was political in nature. I was determined to complete my 36-year career in education in a setting in which I would work directly with students, their families, and the teachers. The Fishers Island School position intrigued me…I am so grateful that I applied.
What are your favorite things to do on Fishers?
Sailing, yoga classes at the Fishers Island Community Center, walking on the Museum and Conservancy trails, swimming at the beaches, sharing the island with our grandchildren, and ice cream at Toppers.
What does Fishers mean to you?
Fishers means community. Rob and I are grateful for the warm welcome we received when we arrived and the friendships we have made. We love being a part of the ‘team’ that makes our unique island work.
About your job:
Fishers Island School serves all preK-12 island students as well as Connecticut pupils who apply for acceptance as private school students through our rigorous selection process. The School is committed to cultivating and honoring the gifts and talents of all our students.
