FI School Presents Into The Woods

The Fishers Island School (FIS) will host a production of the Into the Woods on Saturday, November 17. Based on the book by James Lapine, it is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Under the leadership of FIS Drama Director Jessica Hall and Music Teacher Chris Dollar, this production is possible in part through a grant from the Sanger Fund to the School’s Drama Department.

“We are excited that our students will be able to have the experience of performing and producing a work of musical theater that is of the caliber of Into the Woods“, said FIS Music Teacher, Chris Dollar. “We are grateful to the Sanger Fund, The Fishers Island School, and the whole Fishers Island Community for their continued support of our students’ education and participation in the Performing and Visual Arts.”

Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a musical format that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel – all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife, their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.” —Anonymous
